The Visual Project Colombia born from my experience of time outside of my country, and from observe how the view of many people about my country is poor, distorted and in some cases nonexistent.
While it is true that my country suffered the ravages of violence, mass media have published only a small part of our reality, and much less of our culture to the world. I ask to myself now: What country in the world, throughout his history, has not been a victim of economic, political, religious, armed and/or war troubles?.
We know that human history has developed in the midst of problems that have led us to be who we are as countries. But whatever it be, I think, the problem is not that bad people exist, the trouble what happens is that we, the good mans, do nothing.
So this time I spend in the area of my practice as a designer, to talk about the experiences I have of my country, to show part of its rich culture and some of the things that of him less people say. So when someone asks for my country, you have clarity and reason to speak well of Colombia.
An interesting and worthy project with well-chosen items for the themes. It all looks very positive and the information was new to me, so thank you. It would benefit from a bit of proofreading for the English translations, but still, I like the project. I hope Colombia will be able to retain its variety in species - it's a treasure of a country in that respect.
Btw., Colombia is a "he" in Spanish? Because here in Czech republic, we're used to decline it as a "she". Language differences are funny
Colombia, only when refferred to as "the country" (el país) is male the rest of the time it's female, the way 99% of the words in Spanish which finish in the letter "a" are. For instance, Argentinians refer to Argentina usually as a female, the same with Venezuela and Bolivia and on the other hand countries like Ecuador or Peru are probably considered as "he" like you say
Ha! That's precisely why Colombia is a "she" for us, too - it has "a" at the end. There are very few words/names in Czech that would be considered "it" or "he" and end with "a". Thank you very much for the explanation.
I know your country only from photographs, in Poland, little is said about him, nobody knows that you have economic policy issues, and need to know and participate in the problems of other countries in order to help them
dont worry for your english, mine is poor too, and in all this time in poland i still with many troubles to learn polish..... in fact i value your time and words...
Is hard for me explain you about how i see the economy in my country, and in fact it can take long long time. But surely Colombia dont have all the troubles that people usually think. Now for example living here in poland i see how many countries in Europe have troubles too (to be more precisely, how many people from poland go to work to other countries and back). But i consider that the point is, how be tolerant with the others, how respect the differences, how be more humans and brothers without mental limits.... more or less like happen in this kind of spaces in internet, where many people from many countries have encounters to talk, to share his works and his points of view, to finally make friends and contacts with some themes in common...
(i really value your time to write and visit me, for all your support)
